Welcome to Greenock and the Cruise port of the wider area called Inverclyde – a gateway for Scotland for many years.
To get the most out of your visit to our area, we offer a 4.5 hour cycle tour which leisurely follows the flat path adjacent to the River Clyde.
The route is exclusively on The National Cycle Routes, which means it is entirely on pavements (sidewalk to our U.S. visitors!) and paths, and no cycling on any traffic routes. It is part of the newly completed Inverclyde Heritage Trail that follows along the banks – and the history – of the river and the towns.
The route is well served by viewpoints, toilets, shops and for those wishing a “wee" rest, interesting places to take a break – when the tour can pick you up on way back if you just want to take in the spectacular views! For those more energetic and adventurous, an alternative route can be suggested to take in the view from the Lyle Hill, which at nearly 500 feet, gives the most spectacular view of the River Clyde.
Tours leave at convenient times depending on Cruise arrival and departure times, however Evening Sunset tours are also available for ships departing in the late evening. With a ratio of 1 Guide for every 5 cyclists, there is plenty of information about the area and of course many hands to take photos.
Bike hire can be arranged should this be of interest. Please contact us directly.
Please note, cyclists must be tall enough to cycle a 26" Town Bike.
All the trips below depart and return to the Cruise Port – Greenock Ocean Terminal.
